Observed Okanagan climate temperature data network

Description:

Hourly temperature data was collected for 151 sites located across the Okanagan Valley over a 67 day period from June 5, 2013 to September 10, 2013. The maximum of stations available (141) were used to determine relationships between meteorological and geographic variables and maximum and minimum daily temperatures. Explanatory covariates were extracted from the Modern Era Retrospective-Analysis for Research and Applications (MERRA)  database for a 2/3 degree longitude by 1/2 degree latitude resolution grid covering the Okanagan Basin extent. For all sensor locations, a total  of 11 topographic variables were predicted at a resolution of 25×25 meters and included aspect, elevation, annual direct solar radiation, annual total solar radiation (direct and diffuse), a steady wetness index, topographic dissection, hydrologic slope position, relative hydrologic slope position, slope and a 15 category landform classification as calculated  by the software LandMapR. Latitude, longitude and distance to large bodies of water up to 10 km were also considered in the model.
